Since opening in 1996, Portland Coffee Roasters has been an original fixture in our city’s world renowned specialty coffee scene, and we remain locally owned and operated right here in Portland, Oregon.

From the very beginning, we’ve been committed to more than just a great cup. With every sip of this Anniversary Roast, you’re supporting both our coffee-origin and our local Portland projects that help provide resources like clean water access, daycare, food security, and beyond.

Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to the next 30 years of doing good and making great coffee.

Dark 65%
  • Roast Level

A light roast with warm, layered depth. Roasted just a touch darker than our flagship St. Johns Espresso blend.

  • Origin

A trifecta of washed coffees from three regions: 37% Costa Rica La Hilda and 37% Colombia Popayán Reserve, pre-roast blended with 25% organic Ethiopia Tega & Tula Estate added post-roast.

  • Tasting Notes

Citrus and dried berry forward, giving way to hints of raisin and chocolate, with a gentle roasty finish.

Bridging the Past & Future

Our 30th Anniversary Roast bridges where we've been and where we're going. When we first opened in 1996, specialty coffee was just finding its footing in the United States. The industry looked nothing like it does today — no third wave, no single origins on every corner, no direct trade relationships built over decades. We grew alongside it — shaped by new technology, innovation, and evolving trends.

While embracing continuous improvement, we have remained locally-owned, community-rooted, and committed to the people behind each cup. Our employees, partners, and the farming families we've worked with for decades are the reasons we're still here. People like the team at La Hilda Estate in Costa Rica, who we’ve partnered with since 1998, and exceptional producers such as Tega & Tula in Ethiopia, and Popayan Reserve in Colombia. This coffee carries three decades of relationships and growth.

In addition to our ongoing projects at origin supporting access to clean water and childcare, we’re looking closer to home. This year, we’re proud to be expanding our work with local nonprofit Growing Gardens, deepening our roots in Portland’s food security.

Thank you to every partner, every employee, and every customer. We raise our mugs to the next 30 years together. This coffee is dedicated to you.

Founder & Managing Partner, Mark Stell

"We’re not just selling coffee—we’re building relationships. Over time, that’s really become the focus. It’s less about transactions and more about long-term partnerships with the people producing the coffee."
