Happy world water day!
166 Growers. Four years of research and construction. One goal.
Today is World Water Day, we thought it would be a great time to reflect on a water project in Colombia that is helping to improve the health and safety of hundreds of coffee producers today. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the global water crisis. The goal of this awareness is to support the achievement of water and sanitation for all by 2030.
It began with a team visiting the Florencia community and hosting a meeting with coffee producers to share their experiences and challenges. In response to this meeting, this project was crafted to provide basic water infrastructure and sanitation (septic tanks, sinks, and bathrooms) to 166 coffee producers and their families.
We partnered with The Coffee Source, as well as Portland Global Initiatives, on this water sanitation project in Florencia, Manizales, Colombia. This project had taken over 3 years so far and we are on schedule to complete this project this summer!
We are so happy to have been involved in this project with a team of great people from different organizations that share the same values.
Together we have been working to provide safe and clean water for the people in the Florencia community, while protecting their environment.
